Privacy Policy
ClipVe is a desktop app for clipping live streams, made by Nemexis, LLC ("we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal data described here.
ClipVe is built so that your video and your platform logins never leave your computer. This page explains what stays on your device, what reaches our servers, why, how long we keep it, and your choices. It covers the ClipVe app, account.clipve.app, clipve.app and clipve.com.
The short version
- ClipVe keeps only a short, temporary buffer of the streams you have open. It overwrites itself as the stream plays and is never uploaded. Nothing becomes a video file unless you save a clip.
- Your clips, your platform logins, your saved channels and your voice data stay on your computer.
- Free needs no account. The app still talks to our servers to check in, update and show live status. Those requests carry your IP address, your app version and random IDs for your copy of ClipVe.
- Pro needs an account. We keep your email, sign-in methods and subscription details. Stripe handles payments.
- We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or use analytics, advertising or crash-reporting tools.
1What stays on your device
The live buffer. To let you clip what already happened, ClipVe keeps a rolling buffer of the stream on stage and of streams parked in the dock. The stage buffer holds up to 60 seconds on Free and up to 10 minutes on Pro; docked streams keep a shorter buffer. The buffer is held in ClipVe's private app storage on your computer in short pieces that are overwritten as the stream plays, so older video is discarded automatically. While you are editing a clip, the buffer is held for up to 5 minutes until you save or discard the clip. The buffer is cleared when you remove the stream or quit ClipVe; if ClipVe closes unexpectedly, it is cleared the next time ClipVe starts. It is not saved as a video file, it does not appear in your library, and it is never uploaded to our servers or anyone else's. Live streams are never recorded or stored on our servers. The only video ClipVe saves is a clip you choose to save.
Your clips. Every clip is cut on your computer and saved to a folder you choose. The video is never uploaded to us or anyone else.
Your Twitch login. Twitch is the only streaming platform you can sign in to. When you connect it, the access token is encrypted with your operating system's secure storage and kept on your computer. Our servers never receive it. ClipVe asks Twitch only for permission to read the channels you follow, so it can show which of them are live. When you disconnect, ClipVe cancels its access at Twitch and removes the token from your computer. YouTube, Kick and Rumble channels are added by link, with no sign-in.
Your app data. Your settings and save folder, your saved channels, your recently watched channels, your clip library list and thumbnails, your crop settings and any personal watermark image are stored on your computer only. We do not sync them to our servers. Removing the ClipVe app does not always remove this data; see section 15.
Platform data in ClipVe's player windows. To play Kick and YouTube streams, ClipVe opens those platforms' own pages in separate windows inside the app. Those pages run the platforms' own code and can store cookies and similar data on your computer, as they would in a browser, under the platforms' own privacy policies. ClipVe does not read that data or send it to us.
Your voice. Voice clip is a Pro feature in beta. All audio is processed on your computer and is never sent to us or anyone else.
- ClipVe listens for "ClipVe that" only while you have turned voice clip on, the ClipVe window is focused and a stream is on stage, and while you record samples in the training wizard.
- If you turn on the option to filter out other apps' audio, ClipVe also uses the sound your computer is playing, on your computer only, to tell your voice apart from it.
- Training creates a voice profile on your computer. It is sound-pattern data built from your training samples, not an audio recording. It is used only to recognize the phrase, not to identify who you are, and we never receive it. You can delete it in Settings at any time, whether or not you still have Pro. Removing the ClipVe app does not delete it, so delete it in Settings first if you want it gone.
- Test (beta) builds given to testers, not the released app, keep a log of short audio snippets, 2 to 3 seconds each, from moments when voice clip triggered, missed or nearly triggered, up to 200 snippets. The log stays on your computer so you can choose to export it and send it to us. Nothing is sent automatically. See section 9.
Send to phone. This Pro feature sends a clip straight from your computer to your phone over your local network, using a QR code made on your computer. The clip does not pass through our servers. The transfer is not encrypted, so use it only on networks you trust, such as your home Wi-Fi. The link works for one download and stops working after 10 minutes.
Diagnostics. If you export diagnostics, the file is saved where you choose. It includes your settings (with secrets such as tokens removed), the channels you have open and basic information about your computer's hardware. Nothing is sent to us unless you send that file yourself.
2What the app sends to our servers (Free and Pro)
Like any internet connection, every request to our servers includes your IP address. Requests ClipVe makes to any site, including the streaming platforms, identify the app as ClipVe and include its version.
- Check-in. ClipVe checks in with clipve.app when it starts and regularly while it runs, to confirm it is a genuine, current copy of ClipVe and to tell it whether an update is required. ClipVe stops working if it cannot check in for 24 hours (see our Terms, section 4). A check-in sends your app version, your operating system and its version, and a random install ID created when ClipVe is first installed. If you are signed in to Pro, it also sends your account ID so we can confirm your plan. The install ID is not your name or email, it is not based on your hardware, and we do not use it to track you across other apps or websites.
- Updates. The app checks updates.clipve.app for a new version when it starts and every hour, and downloads updates from there. Each check sends a separate random update ID, created on your computer, so updates can be rolled out in stages.
- Kick live status. To show whether your saved and recently watched Kick channels are live, the app sends those channel names to our server, which asks Kick and passes back the answer. We do not store the channel names.
- Sign-in and billing. Only if you use a Pro account (sections 4 and 5).
ClipVe has no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting tools. Our servers keep technical logs, such as errors and billing events tied to an account ID, so we can run, secure and fix the service. Section 10 says how long we keep them.
3Using ClipVe Free
Free needs no account, and we do not collect your name or email to use it. The only data we receive from Free users is what section 2 describes.
4What we keep if you have a Pro account
- Profile: your email address, your name if your sign-in method shares one, which sign-in methods you use, when the account was created and when you last signed in.
- Subscription: your plan, whether you have a subscription or Lifetime, your Stripe customer and subscription IDs, the end date of your current billing period, and whether you hold a founding member price.
- Account links: if you sign in with an email code using an address you already used with Google or Apple, we combine both into one account and keep a record of the old account ID, the new account ID and the email, so your subscription stays attached to you.
- Consent records: when and how you agreed to our terms and to automatic renewal, and whether you confirmed you are 18 or a parent or guardian, as the law requires us to keep.
We do not keep your clips, your clip list, your followed or saved channels, or your platform logins on our servers. Promotion codes you use are held by Stripe, not by us.
Signing in. You can sign in three ways:
- Email code. We email you a one-time code. There is no password. Use a real email address you control; disposable or temporary addresses are not accepted.
- Sign in with Apple. Apple shares your email address, which can be a private relay address if you choose to hide your email, and your name. Apple shares your name only the first time you sign in; we keep it from then on.
- Google. Google shares your email address, whether it is verified, and your name. We do not receive your Google password, and we do not ask for access to your YouTube account. You can remove ClipVe's access at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
To sign in to the app, it opens account.clipve.app in your browser with a one-time sign-in request, and you confirm it with a short code the app shows. The request stops working after 10 minutes and is deleted once it is used or expires.
To stop abuse such as repeated sign-in attempts or inflated download counts, our servers briefly keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, for up to two hours, and of your email address, for a few hours. These cannot be used to read your IP address or email back.
While you are signed in, the app refreshes your session with our servers about once an hour.
ClipVe never posts anything on your behalf.
5Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. When you buy Pro, we create a Stripe customer with your email address and your ClipVe account ID, and Stripe collects your payment details on its own checkout page. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe keeps its own records of your payments under its own privacy policy.
If you buy Pro through an app store, such as the Microsoft Store, that store handles the payment under its own privacy policy and tells us only what we need to activate Pro.
6Emails we send
We send account emails, such as sign-in codes, purchase confirmations, renewal reminders and notices about changes to our terms or prices. These are sent by our email provider from no-reply@clipve.app. We do not send promotional email to account holders. If an email to your address cannot be delivered, we keep that address on a do-not-send list so we stop trying.
7Our websites
Former clipve.com waitlist. The waitlist closed on 15 October 2026. We keep the email addresses people gave us before then only to tell them about ClipVe, and we delete them by 15 October 2027 or sooner if you ask us at privacy@clipve.com.
account.clipve.app. This is where you sign in, manage billing and delete your account. It keeps your sign-in session in your browser's local storage. It also shows how many founding member seats are left; that request carries no account information.
Visits. Our hosting provider records standard request logs, including IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver and protect our sites. clipve.app counts clicks on its download buttons as anonymous daily totals and remembers in your browser's local storage which buttons it counted today. Our sites serve their fonts from our own servers.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Because we do not track you across sites or sell or share your data, there is nothing for these signals to switch off, but we honor them where the law requires.
8YouTube
ClipVe plays YouTube content through YouTube's embedded player, which is part of the YouTube API Services. When the player loads and plays, YouTube collects data directly from your device, such as your IP address and playback information, and may set cookies or similar technology in the player, under the Google Privacy Policy. ClipVe also asks YouTube directly whether your YouTube channels are live and loads their thumbnails from YouTube. ClipVe does not receive or store the data YouTube collects. By using ClipVe you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service.
ClipVe does not sign in to YouTube or access any YouTube account data. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.
9Things you choose to send us
If you email us, send a diagnostics file, or export and send voice clip snippets, we receive what you send. We use it only to answer you and to fix or improve ClipVe. We never use voice snippets to identify you or anyone else, and we delete them within 90 days of receiving them.
10How long we keep data
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Server logs | Up to 90 days, longer only if needed to investigate a specific security problem |

11How we use data, and our legal reasons
We use the data above only to:
- provide ClipVe, including check-ins, updates, live status and sign-in;
- give you the plan you pay for and handle billing, renewal reminders and receipts;
- keep ClipVe and our servers secure and prevent fraud and abuse, including misuse of founding seats and the Free tier;
- answer your questions and fix problems;
- meet legal, tax and accounting duties and enforce our terms.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, our legal reasons are: performing our contract with you (running ClipVe and Pro); our legitimate interests in securing and improving ClipVe and preventing abuse; your consent (emails to people on the former waitlist, and anything you choose to send us); and compliance with legal obligations (tax and consent records).
We do not sell your personal data, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
12Who we share data with
We share data only with providers that help us run ClipVe, under contracts that limit what they can do with it:
- Cloud hosting provider: hosts our servers, accounts, account data and websites in the United States.
- Email provider: sends account emails.
- Stripe: processes payments and runs the billing portal.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, only if you choose them.
- App stores such as the Microsoft Store: only if you download or buy through them.
ClipVe also connects directly from your computer to Twitch, Kick, YouTube and Rumble to play streams, to show whether your saved and recently watched channels are live, to load thumbnails, and to Twitch for your follows if you connect it. No ClipVe server is involved in those requests, except the Kick live status described in section 2. The platforms see those requests like any other viewer's, under their own terms and privacy policies.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, us or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to your data.
13Security
We use encryption in transit, encrypted storage, access controls and the security features of our providers to protect the data we hold, and we keep it to a minimum. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you as the law requires.
14Where data is stored
Our servers and providers are in the United States. If you use ClipVe from outside the United States, your data is transferred to and processed there. Where the law requires, we rely on our providers' approved transfer safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
15Your choices and rights
Choices you can make yourself:
- Disconnect Twitch at any time; ClipVe cancels its access at Twitch and removes the token from your computer.
- Delete clips like any other file, and delete your voice profile and voice snippets in Settings.
- Cancel Pro at any time in the billing portal, linked from the app.
- Delete your account: sign in at account.clipve.app and choose Delete account. Without an active or unpaid subscription, it is deleted right away. Otherwise, the subscription is cancelled and the account is deleted when the paid period ends; you keep Pro until then and can change your mind. Deleting an account with Lifetime ends that Lifetime.
- Removing the ClipVe app may leave your settings, saved channels, voice profile and platform data from section 1 in ClipVe's app data folder on your computer. Delete what you want gone in ClipVe before removing it, or delete that folder yourself.
Your rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal data we hold about you, get a copy of it, correct it, delete it, object to or limit how we use it, and withdraw consent. If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
To use any of these rights, email privacy@clipve.com. We will confirm your identity, usually by checking that you control the email on your account, and answer within the time the law requires (normally 30 to 45 days). You can use an authorized agent where the law allows. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and we will review it. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
16Children
You must be at least 16 to use ClipVe. To buy Pro you must be at least 18, or be 16 or 17 with a parent or legal guardian who buys it for you and agrees to our Terms. ClipVe is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email privacy@clipve.com and we will delete it.
17Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top, and for material changes we will tell you in advance in the app and, if you have an account, by email. If a change means we would collect or use data in a new way, we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.
